I recently had the pleasure of watching Nancy Wilson at the City of Miami Gardens 3rd Annual Jazz In The Garden on March 16, 2008. She gave a heart warming performance and took time out to be especially interactive with the over 10,000 patrons. So I was extremely saddened to her that Ms. Wilson was hospitalized with a collapsed lung.
Spokeswoman for the 71-year-old Grammy-winning singer says she is expected to recover, but will not be able to make a performance scheduled in Memphis, Tennessee next weekend. Devra Levy, wife of Wilson’s manager, John Levy, said Wilson’s lung was being reinflated at Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, California.
It was really great to hear that she was in good spirits ad we certainly hope for a speedy recovery.
Information surrounding her illnes is rather skethcy, but it was said that Ms. Wilson began experiencing pain and was taken to the hospital by her husband, Wiley Burton. The cause of the her condition is not yet determined. Sources say that Ms. Wilson has had some respiratory problems over the years.
Wilson has been singing professionally for more than 50 years and is semi-retired. Her performance at the recently concluded “Jazz In The Garden was dubbed as an out of retirement appearance.
Last year, her album “Turned to Blue” won the Grammy for best jazz vocal album. She also won that category at the 2005 Grammys for the album “R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal).” In 1965 she was presented the Grammy for best rhythm & blues recording for “How Glad I Am.”

In Champions Tour, Peter Jacobsen on April 1, 2008 at 11:49 am

Champions Tour Player Peter “Jake’ Jacobsen has got to be the most humorous golfer alive. So when I learnt recently that he is recovering from knee surgery. I felet the need to post this get well wish. Here goes…GET WELL JAKE…YOU ARE MISSED ON TOUR.
If you have not seen this Portland, Oregon native goof off on and off the course…then you are missing oout on having fun with golf. Peter also toys around with the guitar and was even in a band.
Jake’s physician Dr. Mort Bertram was extremely happy about the results of his surgery. Jacobsen who is at home now, is feeling great and will begin rehabilitation. He said that he was looking forward to his recovery and plans to get back out on Tour this summer.
Jacobsen finished tied for 13th at The ACE Group Classic and grabbing a win with Fuzzy Zoeller at the unofficial Wendy’s Champions Skins Game, Jacobsen struggled in his next two tournaments this season. He finished 71st in a field of 77 players at the Toshiba Classic then tied for 60th at the AT&T Champions Classic.
This is his second surgery since March 2007, when he underwent back surgery and returned to the Tour in May last year but continued to have back problems throughout the year.
The injuries are part of an ongoing battle for Jacobsen, who had left hip-replacement surgery in September 2006. He also had problems with his right knee in 2006 and received a series of cartilage injections in hopes of avoiding knee replacement
Get Well Jake!!!!
