“Metamorphosis” is the latest release by soulful songbird Singer Maysa. The album is a potpourri of musical sounds and is classified in the smooth jazz-funk-soul category. She decided on this title (“Metamorphosis) for her album because she has begun a personal metamorphosis herself. The Baltimore native has paid her dues as a member of touring and recording groups through the ‘90s including Stevie Wonder’s female backup group “Wonderlove” and the British jazz-funk group Incognito. She went solo in 1995 and consistently put out six acclaimed (original) albums and has done her share of appearances on dozens of albums for some legendary artists, groups, and producers. She credits her uncle for turning her on to jazz music, she said he use to tune into PBS to see Al Jarreau perform. She said she decided at that moment to do music. Maysa has been compared to a number of soul-jazz songbirds including Anita Baker, Sade, and Phyllis Hyman. She although she is flattered she want to create a name for herself and find her own sound. She explained that the combination of her degree in classical performance, her opera training, her experiences, and her size; she found her voice. The CD which is released on the Shanachie Record label helps her to make more decisions creatively and share her vision with music fans. She teamed up with famed producers Rex Rideout, who does a lot of work with Will Downing and Chris Davis.

U2’s very first concert in Croatia sold out after 12 hours. This uber Rock Band from Dublin Ireland is a sure hit where ever they go around the globe. Reports in from Croatia said that hundreds of people waited outside stores overnight in freezing temperatures for a chance to buy tickets to the Aug. 11 event. While several thousand other fans logged onto the authorized ticket sales Web site causing the server to go down for a few hours. “We’ve never seen anything like that in our career,” said Maja Valjak from the Lupa Promotion, a concert organizer for several years. She said organizers hoped to negotiate another concert in Zagreb.

Flo Rida to perform on NBC Today Show Concert Series


NBC’s Today Show has announced its concert series for the summer which will take place in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, just outside “Today’s” Window on the World Studio. Viewing for fans is free on a first come, first serve basis. Additional artists and special guests will be announced throughout the season.

    This great. I love what you’re doing here. Maysa is one of my favorite vocal jazz artist. I’m definitely going to add this site to my favorites.
