Winners’ Circle For Manny Pacquiao ‘s Left Fist!!
I am a huge boxing fan, but have never had the chance to watch a fight in Las Vegas, although I could have. But on Saturday, May 2, 2009, I decided to host a few friends for drinks and dinner to watch the fight billed as Many Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton. Rick Hatton is the native son of Britian whose fan base is as big as the Beatles. But Manny Pacquiao is the humble soft spoken man from the Phillipines, who in comparison to Hatton did not carry a big fanfare, nor does he have a theme song, but his fist packs a mean bunch. While we were all entertained with the celebrities sightings, the horn section brought in for Hatton and the reporters providing us with “need to know information”. We also got to watch the curtain teasers for the main event. But little did I know, that things were going to come to a head after 2:59 minutes in the main event. First of all, we all heard that Pretty Boy Floyd would come out of retire, of course we were all hoping that he would be in pace to fight with the “Pac-Man”, if he could edge Hatton. Fast forward to the main event and with a few combinations, jabs, upper cuts and a mean left hook, Hatton was knock down. Hatton got up, determined to carry on the fight, but the mean right and an even a bigger and meaner eft took the Brit down. It was a scary moment for Hatton as he remained on the floor for a minute or two. He managed to make his way back to his feet, but did not give a post fight interview. His camp stating that he need to make his way to the hospital for futher evaluation. At his post fight interview, Pacquiao was insisting that he just wanted to do his job, entertaning the fans. My take on the fight, it was a knock out to remember…next time I will be in Vegas.
