The Tale Of The Bear And The Tiger At Memorial
Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods played together in the Memorial Skins Game yesterday for what was the second time they have competed against each other in the same group.
The Memorial Skins Game, Wednesday at Muirfield Village involved four players in two groups. Nicklaus and Woods will be joined by Stewart Cink and Kenny Perry, the defending champion at the Memorial. The other group had Vijay Singh, Padraig Harrington, Jim Furyk and Camilo Villegas.
The only other time Nicklaus and Woods played in the same group was the 2000 PGA Championship, which Woods won for his third straight major.
For golf fans it was a great feeling to see the legend Jack and his under study Tiger walked the fairways together. I have a feeling Jack was impressed with that chip in from the fringe that Tiger made.
Jack said that he had a couple of par 4s that he could not make, but he enjoyed being out there. He was originally paired with Vijay Singh”s group, but requested to play with Woods, saying that they had not played for nine years.
As a Tiger fan, I am hoping that is a signed of what is ahead in the Memorial tourney which starts today. Go get them Tiger!!!
